Training Method at Dog Behavior WNC
At Dog Behavior WNC, we use science-backed, force-free training that builds trust and confidence in your dog. Our method focuses on positive reinforcement (R+), rewarding good behavior rather than punishing mistakes. We believe training should be ethical, effective, and enjoyable for both dogs and their owners.
Aunt Karen’s Approach
• Using food, play, and praise to capture, shape and increase behaviors.
• NO shock collars, e-collars, choke chains, or slip leads. Fear Free.
• Choosing the gentlest, most effective training methods for you and your dog.
• Rehabilitation based on applied behavior analysis and canine learning theory. • Maintain continuous coaching for those caring for the struggling dog.
Why It Works
Taking the time to figure out what exactly is driving your dog’s behavior and what is maintaining that behavior is the key to lasting change. Responsible Behavior Counseling takes the necessary steps to provide a path forward and mentors you through the process. Your dog’s emotional experience (and your’s!) is acknowledged in a respectful and compassionate way. Using simple patterned exercises, structure and routine, we can re-build confidence and a willingness to learn for both humans and their canine companions!
Why It Matters
Please use care in selecting a training method and a certified professional to guide you as you raise your puppy or address behavior issues in your dog. Dog training is an unregulated, unlicensed field. Look for verifiable credentials based on current education and high standards that do not rely on tools and practices that may create fearful or repressed behavior in your dog. Ask direct questions about the methods being used by any trainer you contact.
